Since first elected to the legislature in 1985, Ron Lewis has been an influential figure in the Texas political realm.

His tenure in the legislature from 1985 to 2003 was spent ushering in new legislation that still remains active today and chairing committees such as Energy Resources and Natural Resources. After retiring from the legislature, Mr. Lewis used the experience and procedural knowledge gained to develop a trusted name in political strategy and governmental consulting. For the last 20 years Ron Lewis has consistently been named into the top 10 lobbyists of Texas and remains committed to providing sound, and reliable strategies for navigating the Texas political stage.

Ron Lewis

Ron Lewis' roots in the political arena began as a young boy following his father around Newton County in Southeast Texas. His Dad, Bo Lewis, proudly served as County Commissioner for 26 years and experiences during those years planted the seed that encouraged Ron to graduate from Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in political science.

At the age of 29, Ron was first elected to the Texas House of Representatives and continued to represent the fine people of Southeast Texas for eighteen years. He served under the leadership of six Governors and two Speakers, who selected him to leadership positions on the Appropriations Committee and Chairman of several committees, including Natural Resources, Energy Resources and County Affairs. During his time on Appropriations, Ron along with legislative allies Governor Rick Perry, Senator Chris Harris and the late Commissioner Ric Williamson, was among a group of hard-charging young reformers known as the "pit bulls". Ron's passion for the state's natural resources propelled him to concentrate on water and environmental issues while in the Legislature. Among his proudest accomplishments was being the House sponsor of SB 1 and SB 2, Texas' water management plan for the next fifty years.

Upon retiring from the Legislature in December of 2002, Ron began a governmental consulting and advocacy business, Ron Lewis & Associates, in Austin. His long-time relationships with friends in the Executive Office, as well as with Members of the House and Senate provide an open door for representing his clients on a personal basis. He exhibits the same tenacity he showed as a "pit bull" when lobbying in support of or in opposition to an issue being considered by the Legislature. During the past fifteen years, Ron has specialized in a wide variety of issues, including natural resources, utilities, insurance, business development and finance, pensions, wind power and healthcare. He and his wife, Tessa, are the proud parents of two sons, Alec and Avery.

Alec Lewis

Born to Ron and Tessa Lewis in 1993, Alec Lewis spent much of his early years around the legislature and many days on the house floor with his Dad. Growing up around the legislature inspired Alec at a young age to help those who also deal with severe allergies. In 2000, Alec stood before the Health and Human Services Committee and advocated to make epinephrine mandatory in ambulances across the state. The bill passed and was signed into law by then Governor Rick Perry.

Alec would attend the University of Texas at Austin and graduate with a BA in Government. After his collegiate journey, he would return to the Capitol and work the 2017 session for State Representative John Kuempel. He gained procedural knowledge and experience while dealing with legislative issues and aiding the Licensing and Administraltive procedure committee, which Representative Kuempel chaired.

After his time at the Capitol, Alec ventured to Houston to pursue a lifelong dream of attending law school. Attending South Texas College of Law, Alec spent most of his law school tenure focusing on Natural Resources and Property related law. Upon graduating Law School and passing the 2020 Texas Bar Exam, Alec started working at The Buzbee Law Firm, focusing on Eminent Domain and Personal Injury related issues.

After his time practicing law, Alec knew that the best place to hone his skills was to return to Austin and work as general counsel for Ron Lewis & Associates. Alec now handles contracts, legislative consulting, and bill drafting and analysis for clients.
